CT/CAT Scans are an x-ray procedure that combines multiple x-ray images to generate cross-sectional views and/or three-dimensional images of the internal organs. CT allows for detailed visualization of bone, cartilage, lungs, and soft tissue structures, and are generated in far more detail than traditional x-rays. These are also important for surgical planning.
Because movement during CT scanning will decrease the quality of the images, pets are either sedated or anesthetized to ensure high quality
This technique is painless, fast, and can provide extremely accurate images which are then interpreted by a board certified radiologist. Once an abnormality is identified, appropriate medical therapy or surgery can be implemented.
