Veterinary Radiology in Bonita Springs

What are veterinary radiology services?

Our ability to incorporate digital radiology into our diagnostic capabilities at Southwest Florida Veterinary Specialists leads to more immediate treatment.

These images allow our veterinarians and specialists, along with primary care veterinarians who refer patients to us, the chance to share patient information more efficiently.

X-rays can help your vet to get a view of your pet's bones, tissues, and internal organs so that they can diagnose problems such as broken bones, bladder stones, swallowing foreign objects, and more. X-ray images can help vets to spot some tumors, pregnancy, and enlarged organs which may lead to a diagnosis such as heart disease or cancer.

These images do not provide a detailed view of your pet's organs, tissues, or ligaments. In these cases, other diagnostic imaging such as MRI and Ultrasound is more beneficial.

Along with providing state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging services, our radiologist can provide outpatient ultrasounds and film-reading services for your primary care veterinarian.

Our Veterinary Radiologist

A radiologist is someone who has undergone advanced training in all diagnostic imaging modalities.

What are digital X-Rays (radiographs)?

A radiograph or digital X-Ray is a type of photograph that allows us to examine the inside of the body. It reveals information that may be invisible from the outside.

Radiography is safe, painless and completely non-invasive. It also uses only very low doses of radiation. Because the level of radiation exposure needed to perform radiography is so low, even pregnant females and very young pets can undergo radiography.

Radiographs may be used to evaluate bones and organs, and to diagnose conditions including fractured bones, spinal cord diseases, chronic arthritis, bladder stones and some tumors.
